ABOUT US

For decades, FITV has been an active student organization that promotes the production and education of TV production and video skills.

Only recently has the organization expanded into the art and education of filmmaking.

FITV

The legend Begins...

with FITV originally being founded in 1982 as a sub-section of SGA that was designated to oversee (at the time) Florida Tech's new, campus-exclusive TV station, Channel 99. After three years of maintaining and operating and the TV station, the student members of FITV decided to separate and form their own official Florida Tech organization, under the same name they were established under three years prior.

The mid to late 80's brought in a lot creativity and aesthetic that was unparallel to student organizations of the time. From student-produced skits and TV shows, the members of FITV assembled all of their work into their own weekly television variety program which was shown every week in the Gleason Auditorium.  Most of these original project can be viewed through the link above. It was through projects like, "Jaywalkers", "Idaho Jones", and "Melbourne Vice", that created a foundation in the organization and inspired future generations to be just as authentic.

The legend CONTINUES...

with innovative artists, bright ideas, and the indie aesthetic.

As the dawn of steaming has taken center-stage, and digital media has become more and more prevalent and available, FITV has evolved from a video production club/television station to a film/video production studio with a rebranded streaming service, annual film festival, and available service open to the Florida Tech community and the City of Melbourne.

Through the multiple generations of FITV members, we seen a lot of different aesthetics that were defined by the decades that followed them. The 2010's era of FITV saw a even more aesthetics and changes that foresaw the production of FITV's first-promoted short film (that reached independent film festivals in the TCL Chinese Theater in LA), the first student-run film festival on campus, numerous department video collaborations and even more visual projects that ceases to go beyond of the creative boarders of our organizations.

With all that has been achieved in the past few years, we us introduce to you... THE NEW WAVE!
